"Would We Be Killed" and "Life on the Rez"

It was difficult for some of the chiefs, because the Americans have informed them that they were going to take them to a school and tach them language.  But as they been sent to a school, it was something that Ota Kte's didn't really expect.  He had to be teach how to be something else other than living as a Native American,  they taught him how Americans act, talk, what they ware, and what they are known for.  The mission for the Americans Ota realized is that they want to take away Native Americans there beliefs, clothing, language, and create the young kids in their own image.  It has even been said in the article on page 12, "Pratt believed that the children need to completely abandon their "Indian-ness" in order to succeed in America.  This proves that the Native Americans youth have been taken from their tribes, and been taught to be something else to leave there own race to fit in with another race.
Luther had something different compared to what Shanice has because Shanice could decide what she wanted to be, but Luther had to be forced to be from an Native American to a full grown wealthy American. Shanice was like other races, kept her pride of being a Native American, and wanted to have an education to be successful. The only thing that Shanice and Luther have something similar, is that they felt different being somewhere that they rarely go to. It was different for Luther to be reminded that he has to be a American, and Shanice felt different because she was at college to be a success. But around those times Luther was forced to do what they want, and for Shanice U.S.A. is more peaceful now then it was back then. So she had more options to do what Shanice wanted then what Luther wanted.
